Five Romanians suspected of plundering 100s of West Midlands homes on seasonal burglary sprees from their homeland have been remanded into prison having been arrested by West Midlands Police.
Catalin Zaharia and Constantin Stoian, both aged 29, Marian Molocia (27), Daniel Stoean (35) and 27-year-old woman Florina Spiru all appeared at Birmingham Crown Court today (9 Jan) charged with conspiracy to commit burglary.
It’s alleged they were part of a sophisticated burglary gang that took advantage of darker nights between November and January to target affluent properties before flying back to Romania in the New Year on the hunt for gold and jewellery.
The date of the conspiracy they’ve been charged with stretches from 2015 to 10 December 2018 when the group were arrested.
It’s claimed they struck at 100s of homes in the West Midlands and into parts of West Mercia, Staffordshire and Gloucestershire.
Following today’s hearing they were remanded into prison and are next scheduled to appear back at Birmingham Crown Court on 5 April for a plea and case management hearing.
