Police appeal for information after a woman is threatened in her home by masked men brandishing a machete.
Shortly after 6.20pm on Friday 25 January 2019, a woman heard a knock at the front door of her house on Hexagon Close in Crumpsall.
When she opened the door, she saw a masked man sat in a dark coloured VW Golf outside her house. Fearing for her safety she immediately closed the front door and locked it.
Four men wearing balaclavas got out of the car and ran to the front door before knocking on it and kicking it. One of the men climbed over the fence and used a machete to smash the rear patio door to get into the house. He made his way through the house and opened the front door to let the other men in.
One of the men held a machete to the woman’s throat and demanded she hand over cash, but she explained that she did not have any money in the house. She was forced to remove her rings, and the offender threw them on the sofa.
The men then searched the rest of the house, before making off with personal items.
Detective Constable Paul Shacklady, of GMP’s City of Manchester borough, said: “This was a frightening and upsetting ordeal for the victim, and she has been left terrified by this experience.
“We have a team of detectives dedicated to finding the men responsible for this and ensuring they are held to account for their actions.
“If you know anything about what happened, or if you saw anything suspicious in the area at the time then please get in touch with us as soon as you can.”
