Councillor Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Heritage Services, said: “With summer upon us, we are delighted that the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, will be back to being open seven days-a-week.

“As the consistently excellent reviews tell us, there is no better place to be when the sun is shining than Lido Ponty – it is even enjoyable swimming there when the sun is not shining as both the pools and changing facilities are also heated!

“The Trip Advisor reviews show that the public love Lido Ponty and are flocking to Rhondda Cynon Taf in their thousands, not only making the most of the Lido’s now iconic facilities, but also taking advantage of everything else Pontypridd and our wider County Borough has to offer visitors.

“We are so proud to be home to the National Lido of Wales, it provides a huge boost to the local economy as visitors make the most of their days out by exploring the area.

“I’d like to thank all of the staff at the Lido Ponty for their hard work and dedication in ensuring that the Lido is more than just a facility, but a truly great experience for the whole family and the Certificate of Excellence rightly recognises this.  We hope that everyone once again has a great summer with us here in Rhondda Cynon Taf.”

Since opening in 2015, more than 266,000 people have visited Lido Ponty, including a record-breaking 91,000 visitors last season alone, which was an increase of over 16,000 visitors on the previous year.

More and more people are heading to the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, as it continues to grow in popularity with families and swimmers of all ages and abilities.

The National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, has full disabled access, including entry into the main pool. Admission to the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, remains at £2 per adult for 2019 and FREE for children under the age of 16.

As well as the opportunity for lane swimming and more relaxed swims in the heated pools, and a Splash Pool for the little ones, there are also a host of water activities on offer throughout the season.

For just £2.50, visitors can enjoy everything from fun inflatables to Aqua Scooterz, Aqua Peddlerz and Water Walkerz.

Situated in the picturesque Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, is Wales’ premier outdoor family water attraction, offering something for all ages.

It is the perfect place for families to enjoy a great day out, for dedicated swimmers, social swimmers and also for children who enjoy aquatic antics in the open-air, whatever the weather, within safe and historic surroundings.

The National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, originally opened to the public in 1927 and sadly fell into a state of disrepair before closing.

The £6.3m Grade II listed outdoor family water attraction was officially re-opened on July 6, 2016, by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall.

Other attractions at the National Lido of Wales include the Lido Ponty Public Exhibition, The Waterside Café and Lido Play, the children’s adventure park, which captures the imagination of younger visitors as they explore the swings, slides and tunnels in this locally-themed attraction celebrating our proud industrial past.
