Further Appeal Following Fatal Road Traffic Collision Penywain Road, Wainfelin, Pontypool

Officers are continuing to appeal for information following a fatal road traffic collision on Penywait Road, Pontypool.

At approximately 7.45pm on Monday 5th August 2019, officers were called to a report of a serious road traffic collision on Penywain Road, Wainfelin, Pontypool.

The collision involved a white Renault Kangoo van which collided with a parked vehicle.

Sadly, one of the occupants of the van, a 22-year-old man from the Pontypool area, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another occupant of the van was taken to the University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff and has since been discharged.

A 27 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on police bail.

Officers are requesting any motorists who used the road yesterday evening around the time of the collision to please check any dash cam footage that may provide further information that will assist officers with their enquiries. We would particularly like to speak to the driver of a silver coloured Vauxhall Insignia which is believed to have been on Albion Road, Pontypool at approximately 18.30pm on Monday 5th August as they may have information which can assist with enquiries.
