Transport for Wales is working with council’s across Wales to issue around 750,000 new-style Concessionary Travel Cards by the end of December 2019, replacing all current green coloured bus passes.
The national replacement programme will begin from 11th September, with the new style cards offering the same free travel rights and benefits as the current cards.
Transport for Wales has created a new website www.tfw.wales/travelcards, which card-holders can use to apply for the new-style card, as well as a national telephone helpdesk to support residents through the application process.
From Wednesday 11th September, Caerphilly county borough residents with no access to the online application process can call 0300 303 4240 for support through the process.
The key message for pass-holders is that there is no need for concern or worry. Current passes are still valid until the end of December, and there is plenty of time and support available to arrange for the necessary replacement.
James Price, CEO of Transport for Wales said, “I’m pleased that Transport for Wales is working hard with local councils to replace around 750,000 bus passes with new Concessionary Travel Cards. It’s great that there’ll be one national service for all cardholders across Wales. The new-style card offers the same free travel rights and benefits as the current card and will also work as part of the integrated travel network in the future”.
Residents are encouraged to apply online, or ask a friend, family member or someone they trust to apply on their behalf.
Applications can be made at www.tfw.wales/travelcards. The national telephone helpdesk number for support through the application process is 0300 303 4240.
