The performance is a result of a collaboration project “SMKN 10 BANDUNG NGAJOMANTARA (Going Global)” lead by a Welsh based agency, Jera Creative, in partnership with the Embassy of The Republic of Indonesia – Education And Culture Attaché, students from SMKN 10 Bandung School, Indonesia, Gwent Police HQ and pupils from Lewis School, Pengam.
This is the first event of its kind, where students from Wales and Indonesia will combine music cultures. The Indonesian students will share their knowledge and skills of classical Gamelan music and Kacapi, a zither-like musical instrument, alongside Welsh pupils, who are currently studying hip hop, to combine the music and create an EP.
The students from Indonesia will also perform dance choreography displaying various cultural themes.
Taking place during interfaith week, the performance will demonstrate that through the arts, commonalities can be found across diverse communities.
The event starts at 12.30pm, with Indonesian cuisine and refreshments available after the performance. For tickets, please visit http://bit.ly/32kFyhA.
