The Council will begin an essential scheme to replace the automated bollard at Taff Street in Pontypridd Town Centre – scheduled on consecutive Sundays across January and February to minimise disruption.
This #RCTinvest scheme is funded by the Council’s Making Better Use Programme, and is included within the £25.9m Capital Programme for Highways and Transportation schemes during 2019/20.
During September 2019, a series of ground investigations took place in Taff Street to inform the wider scheme and the upcoming works. The overall scheme includes the essential removal and replacement of the existing bollard, allowing the Council to install a newer model that is easier and less expensive to maintain. The scheme will also include drainage improvements.
The works will begin from Sunday, January 19 –taking place across six consecutive Sundays. The hours for each Sunday shift are from 7am to 7pm.
During the works, no vehicles will be able to enter Taff Street from the location of the automated bollard (at Crossbrook Street). Vehicular access to the Town Centre will be maintained via Penuel Lane, off Gelliwastad Road.
The Council would like to thank residents, local businesses and Town Centre visitors for their cooperation while this essential scheme is completed.
