Vale Of Glamorgan Councilvale Schools Unite To Display New Art Work In Art Central Gallery Exhibition

The exhibition titled ‘Mixing it’ is a celebration of the two schools as they are today, as well as marking the forthcoming changes in September when they both become co-educational schools.

 

The event, which was officially opened on Saturday 7 July, saw more than 70 pupils and their families attend, along with school governors, former Deputy Head Carole Evans, and artist and former Head of Art at Bryn Hafren School, Jean Francis.

A variety of art works including painting, ceramics and 3D work is on show, and provides an insight into the way the arts can be used to challenge and enable young people to express their views, through observations, research, emotions and feelings.

 

Cabinet Member for Learning skills and Culture, Cllr Bob Penrose, officially opened the gallery, and said: “The art works are bursting with energy, ideas and are of an exceptionally high quality and standard.  The fresh ideas are innovative, unique, thought provoking, imaginative and reflect the high calibre of creative learning at both schools. 

 

"This exhibition is an opportunity to contribute to your career whether that is in the arts or other and can be included as part of your CV, University and job applications. I am sure you and your families are very proud of your achievements.”

 

 

The schools governing bodies of are inviting former pupils to share memories of their school days at Bryn Hafren and Barry Comprehensive School.
