Police Appeal For Witnesses To Firearms Discharge

Thursday 21st Mar 2019

Police are appealing for witnesses to a firearms discharge in Bolton.

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday 11 July 2018, police were called to Tattersall Avenue on the Johnson Fold estate to reports that shots had been fired outside a property on the street.

Officers attended and found evidence of a firearms discharge.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Detective Inspector Ian Partington, of GMP’s Bolton borough, said: “I understand that incidents like this will cause some concern in the community however I want reassure local residents that we have a team of officers working to find those responsible.

“Thankfully nobody was injured during the incident but, as we all know when firearms are involved, it could easily have been a different story.

“People may notice an increased police presence in the surrounding area as we carry out our enquiries today and I would encourage anyone who feels they have information that can assist us to please approach one of our officers.”

Anybody with information should contact police on 0161 856 5757 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
