Caerphilly - Crucial Crew Event Sees Over 2000 Caerphilly Pupils

Monday 24th Feb 2020

Over 2,000 year 6 pupils from across Caerphilly county borough recently attended the Crucial Crew event which educates young children.

The event held at Blackwood RFC was organised by Bollo Ltd and Caerphilly’s Road Safety Team who delivered important life skills in a fun and engaging way alongside other organisations.

For the organisations that take part this is the only project that captures almost every year 6 pupil in the Caerphilly county borough and is a very effective way of raising the awareness of road safety such as use of seatbelts and the dangers associated with poor hygiene, cyber bullying, water and electricity among others. As a result, pupils are more confident and are in a better position to make safer choices when confronted with these dangers.

Cllr Barbara Jones, Cabinet Member for Education and Achievement said, “Crucial Crew is a fantastic event that delivers relevant, important and effective messages to a large number of pupils in a short period of time. Thank you to all involved, I am pleased that Crucial Crew has been as successful this year as it has in previous years.”
