Caerphilly - Caerphilly Fostering Team Tackle Marathon Month In Aid Of Cancer Research

Sunday 27th Sep 2020

Caerphilly Fostering Team have come together to complete a Marathon Month in August in order to raise funds to support Cancer Research UK.

They will each be walking, cycling, hiking, running 26.2 miles over the month of August, the equivalent of a marathon. Everyone has had some personal experiences, challenges and losses due to cancer; and recently Team Caerphilly have lost someone they have all known for many years and have been lucky to call a colleague or friend.

Cancer Research UK are the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence and information. Its aim is to reduce the number of deaths from cancer. As the world's largest independent cancer research charity it conducts research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Research activities are carried out in institutes, universities and hospitals across the UK, both by the charity's own employees and by its grant-funded researchers. It also provides information about cancer and runs campaigns aimed at raising awareness of the disease and influencing public policy.

Cancer Research UK's work is almost entirely funded by the public. It raises money through donations, legacies, community fundraising, events, retail and corporate partnerships. Over 40,000 people are regular volunteers.
