Search At Abergwyngregyn: Update

Following the earlier search of the river in Abergwyngregyn, North Wales Police can confirm that a body of a man has sadly been recovered from the water.

Shortly before 4pm today (Tuesday, October 6th) North Wales Police were informed that a man had fallen into the river.

The emergency services attended including the Coastguard and members of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team and a search began.

Sadly, just before 7:15pm the body of a man was recovered from the water.

The man’s next of kin have been informed.

Detective Chief Inspector Alun Oldfield, North Wales Police said: “Our heartfelt sympathies are with the man’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. They will now be supported by a trained Family Liaison Officer.

“An investigation is now underway to establish what happened, and as such we are unable to make any further comment.”

North Wales Police are not yet in a position to release further details.
