Social media has become a very easy way for sellers to market their products to the public. But have you ever stopped to think whether it is safe to buy food or drink from an unknown person that you have come across on a social media platform?
Anybody who sells and/or prepares food or drink within the county has a legal duty to register with Gwynedd Council. Food products offered from an online seller could range from re-packed sweets, lavish celebration cakes to a whole roasted pig.
All registered food businesses are subject to food hygiene inspections by Council officers. Following the inspections, businesses will receive a food hygiene rating.
You can check a business’ Food Hygiene Rating and verify whether they have registered by searching for the business on this page.
If you are currently preparing and selling food or drink via social media and have not registered with Gwynedd Council then please do so immediately, free of charge, by visiting this page.
