Private rented sector landlords are being invited to attend the annual landlord’s forum, with two sessions held at the Council Chamber in Llangefni on October 9th.
A number of topics which will have a significant effect on the private rented sector will be up for discussion. They will include the County Council’s landlord incentive scheme; additional HMO licensing requirements; Wylfa Newydd and Welsh Water Landlord Regulations.
Chair of the Landlords Forum and Mechell Community Councillor, Tony Jones, is urging private landlords to attend the meeting.
He explained, “Private landlords and estate agents have been working on developing a housing strategy with the County Council over the past two years to ensure Wylfa Newydd workers are appropriately housed as the workforce builds to its anticipated peak of 9,500. Many of these workers, it is anticipated, will need to be housed by the private housing sector, tourist accommodation and in caravans.”
“By continuing to work together in partnership, we can determine how proactive intervention will enable us to deal with potential displacement.”
He added, “The Forum will also discuss plans Anglesey Housing Services have to develop a Private Landlord Incentive Scheme. This aims to improve joint working practices with private landlords and provide sustainable housing interventions to reduce homelessness.”
This year there will be two sessions (2.00-4.00pm and 6.00-8.00pm) so that landlords are given more flexibility, especially for those who work during the day. There is no need for landlords to attend both.
Environmental Health Officer Trystan Owen added, “The Landlord Forum demonstrates the partnership between Isle of Anglesey County Council and local landlords in order to meet challenges arising within the private housing sector. This annual event forms part of our continuing commitment to help landlords meet the demands of the unique housing challenges faced by the Island over the coming years.”
Once again, there will be an opportunity for landlords to network with other landlords, agencies and exhibitors. A range of representatives will be on hand to answer any queries, including an opportunity to ask questions at the end of each topic.
