The remedial works to Sirhowy River Bridge were completed on 31st October and works have now commenced to resurface the link road across the valley to ensure we maximise the use of the closure and to ensure future maintenance works to this area are minimised.
These resurfacing works are part of the Private Finance Initiative Contract being undertaken and managed by SEW Ltd.
The resurfacing works require a number of closures to ensure all businesses have access at all times. These closures will include daytime as well as evening and nights to minimise the disruption. The closures will also accommodate some reinstatement of accommodation works that were necessary under the Bridge refurbishment.
To date we have resurfaced from the Retail Park on the west side over to Penmaen Roundabout on the east side. This leaves three key areas yet to be surfaced, which are the retail Park up to Libanus lights, Libanus lights itself and Penmaen Roundabout. These key areas will require some closure works, however, the works will be programmed to restricted hours during the evening /night to minimise disruption.
Works of this nature are weather dependant and completion is currently anticipated for week ending 16th November.
We would again like to thank the residents and businesses of Blackwood and surrounding areas for their patience and co-operation.
