Thomas, 26, of Cradley Croft, Handsworth, fled the scene, but later pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was acquitted of murder, manslaughter and wounding by a jury on Monday afternoon (3 December) following a three-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

During the trial the court heard there had been an altercation between the four men outside the Golden Hind pub on Kingstanding Road minutes before the crash.
