The Managers Of Tomorrow Scheme – Gwynedd Council Searching For Graduate Management Trainees

Gwynedd Council is offering an opportunity for individuals with a degree equivalent or higher to develop a career as a manager with the authority. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Managers of Tomorrow Scheme offers opportunities for two successful applicants to develop as managers of the highest calibre to undertake key management posts across the Council. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The scheme will run for two years, from July 2017 to July 2019. During these two years, the applicant will receive every support and resource possible to gain a professional high level qualification. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The trainee will experience working within various departments and will contribute to the managerial work under supervision in a range of Services across the county. There will be an opportunity to gain valuable experiences that go beyond the usual, to address the strategic, executive and front-line work within local government, which are integral elements of the Council’s functions. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

As part of the scheme, there will be continual support and reviews throughout the two years to ensure that the successful candidates get the best out of the scheme. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The scheme enables individuals to have the experience, networks and qualifications needed to give a firm foundation to those who wish to start on their career as a manager.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Ffion Haf Williams, a Former Trainee noted: “This scheme needs a positive, passionate individual who wants to make a difference in Gwynedd’s communities. It’s an amazing experience and I certainly benefited from the scheme, I would definitely recommend that anyone who is interested to go for it.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Chris Roberts, also a Former Trainee added: “I had a wide range of experiences as a trainee on the Managers of Tomorrow. I went on four different work placements and accomplished many different types of work; it’s an experience that has enriched my career.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

To apply, applicants must possess (or likely to have in future) a 2:1 degree or higher, and the ability to speak Welsh and English is necessary. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
