Mayor Calls For Poppy Support

As Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday approach the Mayor of Wrexham, Cllr John Pritchard, has called on the people of Wrexham to support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Mayor, said: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Wrexham people have always shown a marvellous respect and appreciation for our armed forces and I am certain that once again this year they will generously support the appeal.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Poppies are on sale at public buildings in Wrexham and at many shops and outlets throughout the County Borough. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

This year Remembrance falls from 29 October until 13 November. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The success of the Poppy Appeal relies on the committed support of volunteers and the RBL’s “Poppy People” campaign which attracts new volunteers has been updated this year to give it a fresh and bright look. anyone over 16 years of age is eligible to help and they can do so by emailing volunteersupport@britishlegion.org.uk. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
