A WREXHAM councillor is set to open a new tap room in the city centre.
Andy Gallanders, who represents Rhosnesni on Wrexham Council, is planning to open Rough Hands Tap in the near future.
The business selling craft beer will be located in part of the former CeX store on Queen Street.
The tap room will be part of the Chapter Court development in the city centre, with work already underway to convert the unit.
Cllr Gallanders, who also runs the Bank Steet Social coffee and craft beer shop with his brother Phil, said he was overwhelmed with the support he had received for the new venture.
The Plaid Cymru politician said: “We’re absolutely blown away by the incredible support we’ve received for Rough Hands Tap so far.
“It’s truly heartwarming to see our community rallying behind us as we embark on this exciting journey.
“The unwavering support fuels our passion for craft beer and inspires us to keep pushing boundaries and creating unforgettable experiences together.
“Builders are working on the development as we speak, including our unit, and it’s taking shape nicely.”
He added: “There’s huge steps still to take before we can announce an opening date.
“That first pint will be worth it, but for now thank you for being with us on this new chapter for craft beer in Wrexham.”
Cllr Gallanders has lodged a licensing application with the local authority seeking permission to sell alcohol seven days a week between the hours of 9am and 11pm.
Anyone wishing to comment on the plans is asked to contact the council’s Public Protection Service by March 18, 2024. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
