Cardiff Met Communications Campaign Picks Up Silver and Gold at Top PR Industry Awards
A marketing communications campaign led by Cardiff Metropolitan University has picked up awards in two categories at the prestigious 2016 Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Pride Awards.
The ‘Cardiff Met Student Blog campaign’ was shortlisted for the Welsh CIPR Pride Award for best education communications campaign and best low budget campaign, and picked up silver and gold respectively in a glittering ceremony held at the capital’s City Hall on 7th October.
The marketing campaign itself focuses on showcasing real opinions and stories from current Cardiff Met students, and has supported a 2.76% increase in firm offer acceptances from candidates in the 2015-16 application cycle.
CIPR received over 1,000 entries for this year’s awards with winners selected from more than 300 shortlisted public relations teams, consultancies and individuals from across the UK.
The judges noted that Cardiff Met’s campaign featured, “…excellent research into the target market of school students applying to university underpinned the winning entry in this very competitive category. A range of creative online tactics were deployed and the impressive results included uplift in the number of students who accepted an offer from the university.”
Speaking about the awards, Cardiff Met Marketing Manager, Ben Lee said:
“We are absolutely delighted to have scooped such high profile awards for our student blog campaign and we would like to thank all the students who have contributed for their hard work and dedication in making it such a success.
“It is enormously important that Cardiff Met represents the real voice of students across our academic schools and from different walks of life. It is therefore hugely satisfying for our blogs to have been recognised and rewarded by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.”
