UPDATE: Dangerous Dog Incident In Newport
On 22nd June 2016 a male was walking his dog along Ringland Circle, Newport when the dog pulled away and attacked another dog on the opposite side of the road.
The dog suffered extensive injuries and as a result the owner had to pay expensive vet costs.
The owner of the offending dog was interviewed and admitted to being in charge of a dangerous dog.
He was summonsed to court and on the 13th of September 2016 received the following sentence:
· Pay compensation of £1002.
· Pay a victim surcharge of £30.
· Pay a fine of £80.
· A contingent destruction order was also granted with the following conditions – unless the dog is kept under control i.e. being muzzled at all times whilst outside and whilst visitors attended the address. The dog must be kept on a lead when outside at all times.
Officer in the case PC Alistair Frame: “We welcome the sentence imposed in relation to this incident. This is a reminder to all dog owners the need to be responsible and considerate to prevent these types of incidents occurring”.
