Boccia Champions Congratulated!
Young boccia players from all over Pembrokeshire displayed an impressive level of skill in the latest county-wide competition.
They were participating in the recent Valero Primary and Secondary Schools Boccia competition which took place recently at Milford Haven Leisure Centre.
Eleven teams entered in total – from Pembroke Dock Community, Hook CP School, Ysgol Bro Gwaun, Portfield School, Pembroke School and Milford Haven School.
The final of the primary schools was Pembroke Dock Community School (Red team) versus Hook CP School, with Hook winning by 4 points to 1.
The final of the secondary schools was between Milford Haven School (‘Groovy Chicks’) and Ysgol Bro Gwaun (‘Music Masters’) with Ysgol Bro Gwaun winning by 10 points to 3.
The matches were refereed by Liz Jones, Carol Gittins, Sian Jones (volunteers at Crymych Panthers) together with Charles Hopkinson and Jim Ball from Saundersfoot Rotary Club.
All winners and runners up of the primary competition were presented with trophies by Sian Jones – Welsh International Boccia player.
The winners and runners-up of the secondary competition were presented with trophies by Stephen Thornton from Valero, which sponsored the event.
Angela Miles, the disability sport officer for Pembrokeshire, said she was very impressed with the standard of boccia played and invited a number of players to attend Crymych Panthers.
