Local Road Safety Sponsorship Praised
The support of one of Pembrokeshire’s key safety events for children has been recognised by Road Safety Wales.
Crucial Crew has been supported by South Hook LNG Terminal for the last six years.
The two-week event gives children aged 10-11 a wide range of safety advice from professionals such as the fire brigade, police, ambulance, and many more.
South Hook LNG has also supported Pembrokeshire’s school crossing patrol service and winter safety campaign over recent years.
Sue Storch, Chair of Road Safety Wales, presented South Hook LNG with a Wales Road Safety Awards at their recent conference, recognising their contribution to the ongoing safety of the children in Pembrokeshire.
Kirstie-Anne Donoghue, Road Safety Officer for Pembrokeshire County Council, said they were pleased South Hook LNG had received an award.
“Without their support, Crucial Crew would not be able to continue,” she said.
“Over and above monetary support, they have also donated hi-vis jackets, torches, reflectors and an educational resource over the years to the children who attend the event,” she said.
“In 2010 the company also supported the School Crossing Patrol Service, buying every patrol a new uniform enabling them to be more visible to drivers, whilst providing an invaluable service to communities across Pembrokeshire.
“In 2012 they supported a winter campaign ‘Be Safe Be Bright’ campaign, with the donation of a reflector for every child in the County and to the wider Pembrokeshire community, allowing individuals to be seen clearly when out on the roads in the dark.”
The Wales Road Safety Awards follow nominations from across Wales and are a token of recognition to the individuals, groups and organisations that have made a real commitment to road safety – above and beyond what would normally have been expected of them.
Commenting on the Award, South Hook LNG’s PR Manager Mariam Dalziel said that “echoing the Company’s safety ethos within the community is important to us.
“We are pleased to be continuing our support of Pembrokeshire County Council and the Agencies that contribute to Crucial Crew, in raising safety awareness amongst local youngsters.”
