Pembrokeshire GCSE Results
The percentage of pupils in Pembrokeshire achieving WJEC grades A* or A in GCSE examinations this year is 19.6 per cent – an increase from 17.2 per cent the previous year.
The percentage of pupils in Pembrokeshire achieving A* – C grades is 69.4 per cent which is above the Wales figure of 66.6 per cent.
The A* – G percentage pass rate in Pembrokeshire is 98.9 per cent.
The figure for pupils achieving the Level 2 inclusive measure which includes a GCSE grade A*-C in English or Welsh first language and Mathematics was 58.9 per cent.
This demonstrates a most favourable increase of 4.7 per cent in comparison with last year’s figure of 54.2 per cent.
Pembrokeshire County Council’s Director of Education and Schools, Kate Evan-Hughes, said: “Our provisional results in Pembrokeshire show some very good areas of improvement.
“Five out of eight of our schools (Greenhill, Bro Gwaun, Milford Haven, Preseli and Tasker-Milward) have increased their Level 2 inclusive indicator by at least five per cent.
“This is a considerable achievement. I am pleased that most of our schools have shown considerable improvements.
“We congratulate all students on their achievements. These results reflect the commitment and hard work of the pupils, the dedication of teaching staff and the support of their families. We wish them every success in their future.”
Councilor David Lloyd, Cabinet Member for Education, said: “In taking on the responsibilities of the Education portfolio, I couldn’t be given greater encouragement in the task ahead than that provided by the significant improvement in this year’s GCSE results.
“I am very much aware of the considerable effort of all those concerned in achieving this improvement and I offer them my sincere respect and congratulations.
