Still Time To Join Reading Challenge
There’s still plenty of time for children across Pembrokeshire to take part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
The annual challenge for four to 11-year-olds encourages children to read six books from their local library with lots of rewards and fun along the way.
This year’s challenge, ‘The Big Friendly Read’, celebrates 100-years of Roald Dahl and features some of the children’s author’s best-loved characters and the amazing artwork of his principal illustrator, Sir Quentin Blake.
‘The Big Friendly Read’ highlights themes such as invention, mischief and friendship which are explored in Dahl’s most famous books.
Children can sign up for free to take part in the challenge at any library in the county, and, with the challenge running well into September, there are still lots of opportunities to get involved.
A range of free story-time and activity sessions are also taking place at several libraries in Pembrokeshire during the school holidays to celebrate ‘The Big Friendly Read’.
