Young People Lay On Sumptuous Spread

A mouth-watering Victorian Tea – complete with cream cakes, sponges and scones – has been enjoyed by older people in Milford Haven. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The sumptuous spread was prepared and served by the young people of the town. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

It was the latest in a series of events organised by the Milford Haven Youth Council work to build inter-generational links. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

All the young people on the Youth Council raised money to fund not only the food and drink but also the entertainment and transport at the afternoon tea. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

As has been the case in previous years, Debbie Mills from Tesco and young people from Milford Youth Matters -Routes to Opportunity Project all worked together to ensure the success of the summer party held at the town’s youth centre. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Afterwards the guests were full of praise for their young hosts. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Congratulations and thanks to the youth of the town. We always hear about the bad ones but never about the good ones” said Joan Hooper, aged 87 while Ray Thomas, 78, commented: “I have always found them, very kind and helpful since I have been coming here. They all work hard to make it a lovely day.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

And 79-year-old Marjorie Coe, added: “I’ve always thought well of the young people. It’s been a pleasure to be in their company today.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Other events organised by the young people targeting the most isolated people in the community include Christmas dinners and road trips. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
