Calon FM Team To Produce 56-Hour Marathon Show For Children In Need

Sports presenters are to undertake a radio marathon for Children in Need. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Calon FM Let’s Talk Sport team – Jack Price, Dan Middleton, Jamie Davies and Harry Wright – will be swapping their usual two-hour show for a mammoth 56-hour epic, as they set out to fundraise for the BBC’s 2016 appeal. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Money raised will go on to support disadvantaged children and young people all across the UK. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

From 9am on Wednesday November 16 through to 4pm on the Friday, the boys will stay awake and on air for 56 straight hours at the Wrexham Glyndwr University studios. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Of course, they can’t do this alone, so they’ll be joined by a wide range of guests. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

They’ll be speaking to local charities, which benefit from Children in Need funding, hearing about the difference the appeal makes to people in our area including; Groundwork, Nightingale House Hospice, Homestart and Your Space. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

There will also be live music from Heal The Last Stand, Portlights, Baby Brave and The Glendale Family, with more to be announced. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Jack, Dan, Jamie and Harry have been volunteering with Calon FM for three years, alongside their studies in Broadcast Journalism at Wrexham Glyndwr. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Katherine Wade, Station Editor said: “We had presenters do a 52 hour show a few years ago which was an incredible achievement, so doing 56 is pretty epic. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“The guys have been busy filling the hours with some great content. We’re really proud as they are going above and beyond to raise money for Children in Need, particularly during their final year of university.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
