Decision made on car parking charges in Council owned car parks
Following recommendations by the Thriving Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Cabinet agreed on Tuesday 23 February that the current car parking charges in Council run car parks will remain unchanged in the county for 2016/17.
Councillor Alun Williams, Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Carbon Management, said: “All recommendations that were brought to Cabinet by the Scrutiny Committee have been carefully considered. Many of them were supported and will be implemented whilst some have been actioned already.
In particular we have removed the need to input registration numbers into tickets machines and will be monitoring machines more rigorously. We also intend to increase the take-up of season tickets by making it possible to buy online as they represent very good value for local residents.
I’m grateful to everyone who contributed to the report and I’m sure the steps taken will lead to an improvement in parking services.”
Other recommendations approved by Cabinet included the re-introduction of seasonal parking in Rock Street, New Quay from March to October and that day tickets would be valid for 24 hours.
