Local Elections May 2017

A Notice of Election of Local Government Elections has been announced by the Returning Officer today, 20 March 2017, to elect new Councillors for Ceredigion County, town and community Councils.
Residents will need to ensure they are registered to vote in the County and Town and Community Council elections by midnight on 13 April 2017. Polling Day will take place on 04 May 2017 between 7am and 10pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

If a resident cannot vote in person, they can still have their say with a postal or proxy vote. Residents who wish to vote by post and postal proxy (and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes) will need to apply by 5pm on 18 April 2017 and 5pm on 25 April 2017 for a new proxy vote. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

42 Councillors are to be elected at County Council level, with each County Councillor representing an electoral division that comprises one or more communities. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

There is a total of 540 community Councillors to be elected for the 51 town and community Councils in Ceredigion. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Nomination papers will be accepted from 20 March, 2017 until nominations close at 4pm on 4 April, 2017. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
