Morgan Street Development Underway

Work has begun on remodelling the Council’s Morgan Street offices to relocate the library from Canolfan Teifi. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The work will see the Council’s Library Services move to Morgan Street after discussions with the Library Service and Customer Services, which is already based at Morgan Street. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

By making best use of existing district office, a large foyer area and staff offices, the internal layout will be remodelled to create one large open space on the ground floor to facilitate a central reception area to serve both facilities. A new lift will be installed to serve the first floor public computer facility. All existing services will remain in Morgan Street after the development. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The office will be closed while work is being carried out, and a temporary office will operate from the library at Canolfan Teifi to accommodate staff usually based in Morgan Street. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Alun Williams, the cabinet member responsible for assets said, “Although the period of work may cause a short term inconvenience for residents and staff, I’m sure the new layout will create a pleasant place for residents to engage with Council services.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The local Cardigan office will temporarily re-locate to Canolfan Teifi. Its opening hours will be 9:30-16:30 Monday – Thursday and 9:30-16:00 on Friday. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Construction at Morgan Street began on 3 January and is proposed to reopen at the end of May. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
