Morgan Street Development Underway
Work has begun on remodelling the Council’s Morgan Street offices to relocate the library from Canolfan Teifi.
The work will see the Council’s Library Services move to Morgan Street after discussions with the Library Service and Customer Services, which is already based at Morgan Street.
By making best use of existing district office, a large foyer area and staff offices, the internal layout will be remodelled to create one large open space on the ground floor to facilitate a central reception area to serve both facilities. A new lift will be installed to serve the first floor public computer facility. All existing services will remain in Morgan Street after the development.
The office will be closed while work is being carried out, and a temporary office will operate from the library at Canolfan Teifi to accommodate staff usually based in Morgan Street.
Alun Williams, the cabinet member responsible for assets said, “Although the period of work may cause a short term inconvenience for residents and staff, I’m sure the new layout will create a pleasant place for residents to engage with Council services.”
The local Cardigan office will temporarily re-locate to Canolfan Teifi. Its opening hours will be 9:30-16:30 Monday – Thursday and 9:30-16:00 on Friday.
Construction at Morgan Street began on 3 January and is proposed to reopen at the end of May.
