Consultation On The Future Of Four Powys Secondary Schools Will Start Next Week
Crucial consultation on the future of four Powys Secondary schools will start next week, Powys County Council has announced.
Consultation on the future of Gwernyfed, Brecon, Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells will start on Wednesday April 6 and run until May 23. The consultation had been due to start in March but was delayed until after the Easter holidays.
Public meetings will be held during April to discuss plans to close Gwernyfed and Brecon secondary schools and create a single a single school, initially operating over two sites from September 2017.
Similar proposals are being consulted on for Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells secondary schools, with moves to close both schools and open a single school operating across two sites from September 2017.
Public consultation meetings will be held on the following dates to discuss the proposals.
• 13 April – Builth Wells
• 14 April – Llandrindod Wells
• 19 April – Brecon
• 20 April – Gwernyfed
Entry to the meetings will be by ticket only which can be booked online through the county council’s website www.powys.gov.uk The tickets for the events will be available when the consultation starts on April 6.
The meetings will be filmed on the night and content made available through the council’s website shortly afterwards for up to 90 days.
