Day time activities for older people at Park Day Centre in Newtown will be disrupted next week for essential roof repair work. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

A temporary fence was erected around the building last year when the roof began to delaminate from UV degradation. The issue was further compounded when nesting birds in the adjacent park started picking and dropping material from the roof. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The council will carry out essential repairs to the roof in the interest of service users and local residents’ health and safety. Work will start on Monday (July 4), and it is anticipated to take no longer than two weeks. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Service users will be offered alternative day time opportunities locally at Maesywennol Day Centre in Llanidloes or Westwood Day Centre in Welshpool while the work is being carried out. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The repairs to the roof will be carried out with minimal disruption to other services in the area, with the centre open for business by mid-July. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
