Llandrindod Councillor Appointed New Chairman

A county councillor from Llandrindod Wells has been appointed the new Chairman of Powys County Council. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Keith Tampin, who represents the Llandrindod East / West ward, was elected chairman at the council’s annual meeting today (Wednesday 11 May), succeeding Cllr Paul Ashton, local member for the St. Mary ward in Brecon. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Tampin, who was a county councillor for the Llandrindod North ward between 2004 and-2008, was elected as county councillor for the Llandrindod East / West ward in 2012. He was chairman of Radnorshire for 2012/13 ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“It is an honour to be appointed as Chairman of Powys County Council and I look forward to representing the council at official engagements over the next 12 months,” said Cllr Tampin. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Elected Vice Chairman of the council at the same meeting was Cllr Dai Davies, local member for Berriew, and Cllr Geraint Hopkins, local member for Gwernyfed, was elected Assistant Vice Chairman. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
