Consultation about proposals to close Llanbister and Llanfihangel Rhydithon community primary schools is to be extended, Powys County Council has said. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The formal consultation, which opened on February 11 and was due to run until March 24, has been extended to May 5 to make sure that all interested parties have an opportunity to take part in the exercise. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

A public meeting has already been held in the school hall allowing parents and the wider community the opportunity to let the council know their views on the proposal. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Residents have also been invited to respond to the consultation through the council’s website www.powys.gov.uk/haveyoursay or in writing to the council’s School Modernisation team, County Hall, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, LD1 5LG or email school.modernisation@powys.gov.uk ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The formal consultation follows a decision by the council’s cabinet in January to consult on a proposal to close the primary school from December 2016. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
