Powys County Council has issued the warning ahead of the closure of the A479 at Whitelow Farm near Pengenfford. The works are needed to replace a culvert following a landslip. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Contractors have started the repair works but they will require a full road closure in both directions for 11 days to carry out the works safely. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The closure will come into force from 8am on Saturday 4 February until 5pm on Tuesday 14 February. It will be closed for all vehicles and pedestrians. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

During the road closure, an official diversion route will be sign-posted to inform motorists of the closure. The diversion route is: ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

• Westbound traffic – Divert onto the A40 at Nant –y-ffiyn towards Brecon then the A470 to Bronllys ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

• Southbound traffic – Divert onto the A438 then A470 towards Brecon, then the A40 towards Crickhowell. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

After the repair works at Whitelow Farm have finished on 14 February, further essential works will also be carried out on the A479 between Tre-Walkin junction and Cwmdu. For safety reason, intermittent closure of discrete road sections will be required as works progress along the route. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
