Shared vision of health and adult social care services at public event in Llanidloes

Powys residents are being invited to learn about plans for future health and adult social care at an event in Llanidloes with a particular focus upon older people. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Following the successful integration of health and social care teams for Older People in Ystradgynlais in early January, a timeline and plans for Llanidloes will be unveiled at the public meeting. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Powys County Council and Powys Teaching Health Board will share their vision of health and adult social care services with local residents at the meeting in the town’s church hall in February. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Joy Garfitt, Head of Adult Social Care and Alan Lawrie, Director of Primary & Community Care will outline plans for an integrated multi-disciplinary workforce for adult social services and health care professionals in communities. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

By bringing together health and adult social care staff, a more holistic view can be taken of an individual’s needs by placing the person at the centre of every decision, not the systems. By joining together teams from both services, they are supported by shared processes and information systems so we can avoid duplication, and improve the experience of our citizens. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

This approach to delivering seamless health and social care services will support individuals to remain at home for as long as possible and maintain their independence. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Anyone with a view to how health and adult social care services should be run in the future is encouraged to participate and give their views and feedback. The event will be held at St Idloes Church, Llanidloes from 6-8pm on February 18. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
