Young People Create Video For Hate Crime Awareness Week
Six talented young people from a south Powys youth club have produced a video demonstrating the effects of hate crime as part of a national awareness campaign.
Georgina Griffin, Catrin Rees, Megan Watkins, Jasmine Paulett, Lowri Pritchard and Nia Pritchard from Ystradgynlais Youth Club were approached by Dyfed-Powys Police to produce the video to raise awareness of what hate crime is and how people can report it.
The group took an enthusiastic approach by skillfully filming, acting and directing the video on their chosen theme, religion. The video is now being used by Dyfed-Powys Police as part of the Hate Crime Awareness week and available on YouTube.
Cllr Graham Brown, Powys County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Youth Service, said “The Welsh Youth Hate Crime video that the young people have produced highlights the effects of hate crime and giving people confidence to report the crime. The video demonstrates their exceptional talents and delivers an important message through an innovative communication campaign.”
