A new National Strategy setting out how the Welsh Government will continue to tackle Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence has been published for consultation. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Strategy builds on collective progress to date between Welsh Government and relevant organisations, and prioritises delivery in the areas of prevention, protection, and provision of support. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

It also meets the requirement for a National Strategy within the Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Act 2015. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Communities and Children Secretary Carl Sargeant said: ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“This Strategy sets out our renewed commitment to tackling violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence in Wales – six years on from publishing our first Right to be Safe Strategy. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Much progress has been made during that time to improve the way we work with those affected by violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence. Multi agency working is commonplace and a strong, professionalised specialist third sector works alongside the public sector to deliver essential services across Wales. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“There is still more to do however and we will continue to work closely with relevant authorities and other organisations to implement the Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Act. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“This strategy provides the leadership and direction to create a stronger, more resilient sector, to improve the way these issues are prioritised and tackled across Wales.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
