NRW Consults On New Permit Application For Landfill Site In Flintshire
Natural Resources Wales is consulting on a new permit application for a landfill site in Flintshire.
A previous application for a landfill at the same location, in Alltami, was refused by NRW in July 2015, due to the potential odour problems that could affect the local area.
Now, based on new technology, RJS Civil Engineering Limited has reapplied for an environmental permit for a new non-hazardous waste landfill that would take up to 325,000 tonnes of waste per year.
NRW is holding a drop-in session on Tuesday 17 May, 3pm-7pm, at the Beaufort Park Hotel, Mold, so that people can learn more about the application and give their views.
Paul Wright, Industry Regulation Team Leader for Natural Resources Wales said: “We only issue an environmental permit to a company if we are satisfied its detailed plans make it clear that it can operate safely, without harming the environment or local communities.
“We are now consulting with local people and relevant organisation, and will scrutinise the application in detail. All relevant information will be considered before we come to a decision.”
Details about the permit application can be found on the NRW website: https://naturalresources.wales/parrys-quarry-permit-consultation
The closing date for the consultation is Thursday 2 June 2016.
