Menter Newydd (meaning New Venture in Welsh) will comprise of Hitachi Nuclear Energy Europe, Ltd., Bechtel Management Company, Ltd. and JGC Corporation (UK) Ltd. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cllr Ieuan Williams, said, “Today’s announcement as another significant and important step forward in securing new nuclear build and hugely positive in terms of delivering the Anglesey Energy Island Programme.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Menter Newydd boasts a wealth of experience and expertise in nuclear construction and other major infrastructure projects. The Isle of Anglesey County Council already has a well-established relationship with Horizon Nuclear Power and Hitachi-GE and it is one we now intend to replicate with Menter Newydd.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

He added, “We will work with them, and Horizon Nuclear Power, to ensure the best possible outcomes for Anglesey and the wider region in terms of job creation and supply chain opportunities for local businesses.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Anglesey’s Head of Regulatory and Economic Development Service, Dylan J Williams, said, “There is great expectation amongst Anglesey residents and communities that Wylfa Newydd will bring significant local employment. It is an expectation that the County Council shares and we hope to see a Menter Newydd presence on the Island soon.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“We also look forward to meeting representatives from all three companies which make up this new joint venture and hearing more about their plans regarding sub-contractors. This will enable us to work with local partners to ensure local businesses can compete for the supply chain opportunities created by the Wylfa Newydd project.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
