Blind or partially sighted people are being invited to enjoy an afternoon of listening to books at Anglesey libraries.
The County Council’s Library Service is working with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) Cymru and North Wales Society for the Blind to offer a monthly community initiative, which is open to all blind and partially sighted people and their carers on Anglesey. The listening to books sessions at Holyhead and Menai Bridge Libraries offers an enjoyable afternoon listening to various short stories, book extracts and poems; read by a pool of interesting and enthusiastic volunteers.
Anglesey’s Library Services Manager, Rachel Rowlands said, “We would like to extend a warm welcome to all blind and partially sighted people to join us at the RNIB Cymru Listening Books Group.”
“We’ll be holding a monthly listening group at two of the islands libraries. Those attending will be able to socialise over a cup of tea, share tips on how to overcome barriers and borrow audio books from the library.”
Anglesey’s Education portfolio holder, Councillor Kenneth Hughes added, “This is a great initiative and we’re pleased to be working alongside RNIB Cymru and North Wales Society for the Blind.”
