A well-known toy store in the heart of Llangefni could be converted into a fish and chip shop.
Walid Mohamed Hussein-Fadil has submitted a request to convert Look Around Toys on Church Street into the eatery.
The applicant said it was his dream to own his own chippy on the island.
The original building was build around 1834, with the toy store established in 1968.
In his submission to Anglesey Council, the applicant said: “I wish to return the shop front to its original splendour keeping colours as near to the original and using reclaimed timber and craftsmen where possible. Oak doors and frames will be locally sourced.
“The entrance door will be wide enough to accommodate delivery and disabled access.
“Signage would be painted in an old style font, in recognition of the old signage.
“I wish to use the premises as an old fashioned style fish and chip shop with the emphasis on fresh produce cooked in a traditional way. Roast chicken and healthy options will be available.”
He also states that he has operated takeaway food establishments on the island for fifteen years, adding: “But my dream is to own my own premises, where I have complete autonomy to provide a 5* facilities and service.
“I have served the people of Llangefni for many years and they have proved to be loyal customers, who have stayed with me wherever I am.
“I live in Langefni, and I have a love and pride for the town and its people.
“The opportunity for me to own my own business in the town, close to my heart is a dream come true.”
He also “promises to serve” the local community with “pride and professionalism” appealing to planners by adding: “Please give me the opportunity to serve the people of Llangefni and preserve a beautiful building for years to come.”
The application also states that the second floor outlay and use as storage will not be changed.
The applicant also claims that he “has spoken with adjacent businesses and they are in full support of my proposal”.
If approved the application notes it could provide one full-time and three part-time jobs.
The takeaway also proposes being open from 11.30am – 9.30pm, seven days a week and on bank holidays. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
