Oriel Ynys Môn Launches New And Experimental Exhibition
Oriel Ynys Môn will be launching a new and experimental exhibition on Saturday the 24th of September at 3.00pm.
Re-Take / Re-Invent is a group exhibition featuring 15 artists responding to works of art currently held at Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales. The artists have been interpreting their chosen art work from the critical standpoint of current studio practice, leading to new ideas and connections; creating fascinating journeys of discovery as each artist finds different ways to connect with the content and meaning of the artwork.
Nicola Gibson, Visitor Experience Manager for Oriel Ynys Môn said, “We are delighted to be part of this project and are looking forward to seeing how different artists interpret work. There will be something to suite everyone in this exhibition, from installation and new media work to sculpture and paintings”
As a project initiated by the Fine Art Department at Bangor University, Re-Take / Re-Invent has been taking place for over two years, allowing the artists an extended time to focus on the process of making.
The exhibition will highlight sketches, studies and work books as well as finished art works, including interviews, school projects and contributions to a group journal. Photographs commissioned by Graham Hembrough of the artists and studios will also be exhibited, tracking the whole process of making the new artwork.
Re-Take / Re-Invent will feature in two other venues simultaneously across the region and has been generously supported by the Arts Council of Wales.
