Bookstart Expands In Denbighshire Libraries
There will be more opportunities for babies and toddlers to develop their talking and social skills as the Bookstart Rhymetimes programme in Denbighshire libraries expands this week. There will be new sessions in Corwen, Llangollen, Ruthin and St Asaph libraries in addition to the ones currently held at Rhyl, Denbigh and Prestatyn. Parents and carers are invited to bring their babies and toddlers 0-3 years old to the sessions to enjoy learning rhymes and songs, to share books and to make friends with other families.
“These bilingual sessions will offer support to parents in helping their children develop basic talking and listening skills,” said Bethan M Hughes from Denbighshire Libraries. “The sessions are informal and friendly and a great chance for new parents to get to know each other. The emphasis is on enjoying sharing songs and rhymes and on having fun. Children and parents will join the library so that they can borrow books to share at home and we will introduce Welsh and signing to the families at every session.”
