Launch Of National Bookstart Week In Wales
Families in Denbighshire will be taking part in an undersea-themed reading and rhyming adventure at SeaQuarium Rhyl on Monday June 6th to launch National Bookstart Week in Wales.
Babies, toddlers and parents who attend Bookstart rhymetimes in libraries across Denbighshire will be joined by the Vice-Chairman of Denbighshire County Council and invited guests to celebrate books and reading.
National Bookstart Week is the annual celebration of UK charity BookTrust’s flagship reading programme, Bookstart, which is delivered in partnership with local library service and health visitors. It encourages families to pick-up a book together and get into the habit of reading every day – even if it’s just for ten minutes. Parents are encouraged to join their child as a library member so that they can have free access to a huge choice of fabulous books.
This year’s theme, Under the Sea, is based on the fun picture book A Hole in the Bottom of the Sea by Jessica Law and illustrated by Jill McDonald, which will be given out to every child that attends the event.
