New traffic management scheme at Ysgol Dewi Sant
Work has now been completed on the improved traffic management scheme at Ysgol Dewi Sant, Rhyl.
The project, funded by Denbighshire County Council, aimed to improve safety for pupils, parents, staff and visitors attending the school by segregating pedestrians and vehicles, creating a designated ‘drop off/pick up’ area for parents and a similar facility for buses. The scheme has also provided additional car parking for staff/visitors at the front of the school.
The contractor E.Jones and Son from Clawddnewydd carried out the improvement works, which have been greatly received by local residents, parents and staff.
Geraint Davies, Headteacher of Ysgol Dewi Sant, said: “The new car park has had a positive impact on the general running of the school.
“Around 170 cars use it every morning to drop the children off and this means that 170 cars have been taken off Rhuddlan Road outside the school.
“Since the car park opened we have had numerous positive comments from visitors and parents and everyone is in agreement that it is much better than before. Pupil safety has improved and the overall look of the school is much better.
“By now it is hard to imagine how we coped before the creation of the car park and are very thankful to E Jones and Son the contractor and Denbighshire County Council for all their hard work to achieve it”.
