Following a period of public consultation, Flintshire County Council are making arrangements to introduce a series of on-street traffic Orders in areas of the County which are suffering as a result of inconsiderate and unsafe parking. The Orders form part of the Council’s annual commitment to relieve congestion and improve the safety of road users and pedestrians. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The new traffic Orders will be introduced at the following locations: ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

1. Allt Goch, Flint
2. Wrexham Street Mold
3. Fagl Lane, Hope
4. Hawarden Road / Queensway, Hope
5. Penymynydd Road, Penymynydd ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

A sixth proposal to introduce additional parking restrictions outside Abermorddu school received local objections and a request from the school to consider wider road safety measures at the location has resulted in a decision not to proceed at this time. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Councillor Bernie Attridge said; ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“I am pleased to announce that the above traffic orders can now progress and each will improve both traffic movements and safety in the area. Whilst each year we receive more requests for traffic Order amendments than we can possibly undertake, we do prioritise the schemes to ensure those that deliver the highest value in terms of road safety, are carried out each year. Schemes that did not achieve a sufficiently high score this year will be reconsidered for next year’s programme. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

‘I have asked Officers to liaise with the local school and the Member for the Abermorddu area in order to assess the merits of a wider road safety scheme when compared against all other safety scheme requests in the County. If the scheme reaches a sufficiently high priority and meets the criteria set down by Welsh Government, a bid for funding will be submitted to Welsh Government during next financial year”. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
