A Chance To Learn About Tracing Your Family Tree
Tracing family history has become very popular with numerous TV shows concentrating on the subject, and more and more people are showing an interest in drawing their own family tree.
You might have seen some of the Caernarfon Record Office staff helping comedian Greg Davies to trace his family roots on the recent ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ programme on BBC1, and want to give it a go yourself?
Lynn Francis, Principal Archivist from Gwynedd Council’s Archives Service said: “With the interest growing, it is very possible that these courses which will give guidance on the best way to go about tracing their family history are bound may prove very popular. The course will provide tips and guidance on how to set about tracing your family history, with specialist staff on-hand to provide assistance.
“The courses will be an opportunity to look at different kinds of sources and evidence. One of the talks will give a case study, and another session will provide an opportunity where you can question the archivists. Those attending will receive an information pack.”
The courses which will cost £10 will be held at the Caernarfon Record Office on Saturday, 18 February 2017:
– Family History Course through the Welsh language, 10am to 1pm
– Family History Course through the English language, 2pm to 5pm
