Abersoch Golf Club Granted Appended Premises License with Conditions

An application for an appended premises license at an Abersoch beach-side golf club has been approved – with conditions.
It came after a compromise was reached with the applicant according to a report by Cyngor Gwynedd’s central licensing sub-committee.
It met to discuss an application which concerned 18-hole Abersoch Golf Club on Golf Road. An application had been for an appended premises licence for the “primarily, members’ club” which includes a bar, dining room and patio area.
A request had been made to change from “a club certificate to a premises licence” with most of the licensed activities remaining the same. It was also requested to be allowed to play live and recorded music until 2am every day, as well as putting on plays and showing films until the same hours. 
A request was also made for the right to hold licensed activities inside and outside. “There was a right to sell alcohol 24 hours a day every day on the current club certificate and on the premises licence application,” the report noted.
Although there was “no general increase in the hours of licensable activities” the report stated “the applicant requests the right to hold licensable activities later than the current licence, but not open until lunchtime”.
“The club is currently used by members only; but occasional activities are held where non-members are allowed to attend by invitation.”
North Wales Police and the Fire and Rescue Service had offered no objections,
But emailed observations from the Public Protection Service had been received prompting the matter to be called to the committee. They were submitted based on the fact that there were “concerns about the hours requested, with the intention of opening the club to the public and holding licensed activities inside and outside,” it stated.
There were also “concerns that the hours requested could undermine the licensing objectives, specifically the prevention of public nuisance.” It was decided that it would be “beneficial” to hold a Teams meeting with the applicant, the report noted.
A meeting with the applicant was held on July 28, and an agreement was reached “on a compromise,” that any events held on site will be managed by the club committee, after 2am, the property will be open to golf club members only. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
