Cabinet Of Curiosities’ Journey Around Gwynedd
Storiel (Gwynedd Museum and Gallery)’s Cabinet of Curiosities will journey around Gwynedd, sharing and collecting stories and objects whilst discussing the importance of recording and protecting our past.
The Cabinet of Curiosities is a piece of artwork by Emma Hobbins. It was created to celebrate Storiel’s role, a place to collect stories, memories and item from Gwynedd.
Mair Tomos Ifans was inspired by the objects in the cabinet to create a show that would entertain and cause the mind to question- How important is the past to us? Why do we collect objects, stories and photographs? How long is the present? What is fact or fiction?
There will also be an opportunity for the audience to add a part of their local area’s history into the cabinet.
Councillor Mandy Williams-Davies, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for Economy said: “It’s nice to see that Mair Tomos Ifan’s performance, Cabinet of Curiosities travelling around Gwynedd; we hope that people from all parts of Gwynedd will enjoy the performance.”
The Cabinet will begin its journey in Meirionnydd on the following dates-
– Tywyn Library, Tuesday, 29 November, 5pm – 7pm
